Tayfun and Sezer

Global Nomads GERMANY

We are Tayfun and Sezer Demirel – married for 29 years, parents of two adult sons, and serving together as a family in full-time ministry for many years.

Tayfun: I was born in Germany. My mother is German, my father is Turkish. After a difficult youth, I completed my military service in Turkey in 1992, where I also learned Turkish.

In 1995 Sezer and I got married. A few years later, in 2002, I came to faith in Jesus Christ through an Alpha Course. I was the first Turkish Christian in our church and was given the opportunity to serve there as a pastor, as well as to lead a Christian retreat center for over ten years.

Sezer: I grew up in a Muslim family and was strongly shaped by many religious traditions. Over a period of six years, Jesus led me step by step into discipleship. I had to break with deeply rooted Islamic convictions – and three times I experienced Jesus personally appearing to me and calling me to give my life fully to Him.

In 2009, I said yes to Jesus Christ – a decision that completely transformed my life. I then served for many years in our church as a deaconess, secretary, bookkeeper, and cook at the Christian retreat center.

In 2016 we attended a seminar on the Holy Spirit. There, Jesus met us in a new and profound way. Since then, our hearts have been burning to reach Turks and Turkish-speaking peoples with the Father’s love and to make them disciples of Jesus. We dream of seeing many new Turkish Jesus-communities planted and multiplied.

Since 2023 we have been serving as missionaries with Global Nomads Germany. We long to be spiritual father and mother, brother and sister for Turkish-speaking believers – walking with people on their journey of discipleship, both spiritually and pastorally in everyday life – with open ears, open hearts, and deep trust in God’s work.

We are happy to receive invitations to churches – whether for seminars, workshops, or mission outreaches. For example, we also offer Alpha Live Courses in a culturally Turkish context. It is our desire that Christians in Germany develop a new understanding and compassion for their Turkish-speaking neighbors – so that they too may experience the love of God.
